Animal Attacks

A large proportion of people love animals and more than 70% of households in the UK have at least one pet. The most preferred pet animals are dogs and cats. A large number of animal attacks also take place in the UK every year, leading to severe injuries in humans as well as in other animals. It has been proven that the majority of victims of these attacks are children below 12 years of age.  It is vital to teach your children how to behave with animals and the importance of staying away from stray animals.

Some of the major reasons why animals tend to attack include:

  • Illegal entry into the animal’s premise
  • Provocation of the animals
  • Improper confinement of the animals
  • Teasing of animals
  • Disease in animals
  • Mental insecurity of animals

Animal attacks are usually very dangerous as they not only cause severe injuries to the body of the victim or may lead to serious diseases in them but may also prove to be fatal sometimes.

When people decide to keep a pet in their home, then it becomes their responsibility to keep the animal under control and keep a check that it does not cause any injury to other people. It is their responsibility to keep the animals properly vaccinated and it has been proved that neutered animals are less likely to attack other people or animals. Apart from that, any kind of aggressive behaviour should not be ignored by the owners and a veterinarian or an animal expert should be immediately contacted so that any kind of disease or abnormality can be timely detected.

If you have been attacked by a pet animal, then you have all the rights to file a compensation claim against the owner of the pet. But if you have been attacked by a stray animal, then you have to identify the government authority responsible for handling stray animals and then file a compensation claim against the relevant department. You will need to hire a professional and qualified lawyer so that your case can be properly handled and your chances of winning are increased manifolds. While representing your case, your lawyer has to prove in the court that you did not at all tease the animal and that the animal was solely responsible for your injuries and this can be efficiently done with the help of sufficient evidences, witnesses and proofs.
